Friday 7.11.2014 Red Nose Day

Hi!

I have been somehow sick more than two weeks so that's why I haven't write a few days. But because today is Red Nose Day and it is really important thing I want to write at least a bit about it.

But what it means to have a Red Nose Day?

It's a Finnish fundraising and awareness campaign which with entertainment and humor try to increase global justice and equality.

Who work with Red Nose Day?

Finnish Red Cross, Finn Church Aid, UNICEF, Save the Children, Plan, Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission, Fida International, Solidarity, Finnish Trade Union Solidarity Center, the Finnish Broadcasting Company and Finnish Association of Lions.

Where this aid and money goes?

Most of aid goes to Africa, for example to Bolivia, Burundi, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Uganda and Ethiopia. Also to Haiti, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and Laos.

How much money Red Nose Day has collected for aid?

First Red Nose Day in Finland wasin 2007 and then it collected more than 1,6 million euros. In 2011 more than 2 million. In 2012 more than 2,2 million. And in 2013 more than 3,16 million.

How this helps?

With this money organizations can for example support clinic services, establish schools, help poor families, provides food assistance, help traumatized kids, improve the living conditions, funded youth training and entrepreneurial projects and give HIV-education, health checks and reading learning. Most of the aids go for kids.

How we can help?

Today 7pm Finnish time YLE TV2 has a television programme. You should watch it, see all those true and real stories about kids and their families. But how you can really help is donation!
- Call 0600 11620 and you give 20€
- Call 0600 11610 and you give 10€
- Send text message LAHJOITA to 16499 and you give 5€
- Send text message LAHJOITA10 to 16499 and you give 10€
- Send text message LAHJOITA20 to 16499 and you give 20€

So now everybody with a big heart take a phone and call or text and help! If this wasn't enought you have to watch Red Nose Day Show in the evening! I haven't ever watch this programme without tears and I guess I can't do it this year and after African trip as well.
