"21st Century Education

Hi everybody!

Today I'm going to talk about studying at upper secondary school in Finland. In many points our school system is really good but for sure there are some worse things as well.

The first "problem" I see is homework. We always get so much homework. Write an essay or two, do math, translate text, make a sport plan, read a hundred pages,... Secondly, school might be pretty boring, difficult and stressful also. What gives so much stress and makes school that difficult? It's the fact that we have to study some unnecessary subjects, like history and Swedish, so much. We can choose some courses but four history courses or eight Swedish courses is too many especially if you hate those subject. Everybody should study more sport because students don't exercise enough. We should also study more than one course health education because not everybody knows, for example, how to give first aid and other very very important and useful skills.
Or some students could understand how dangerous smoking, drinking or using drugs is if they listen to more health education teacher. Lastly, at our school we use too much computers and information technology.

Good point is that our teachers are very well-trained, efficient and they know what they are teaching. Most of our teachers are really nice, friendly and understandable towards their students. A very good point is also that you can take different courses like cooking, art, music or dancing if you want so. That may make you feel comfortable at school and you won't feel so much stress.

Our upper secondary school is absolutely the best in the Europe and I really appreciate and prefer to be here than any other country's school!

Veera"
